Budapest River Cruises By Hungaria Koncert.

Looking for a simple, relaxing and cost-effective Budapest River Cruise? The €10 sightseeing cruise is our best value excursion on the Danube. Your ticket includes a welcome drink (sparkling wine or soft drink) and guidance by a friendly host from the meeting point at Danube Palace to the pier.

Legenda Day & Evening Cruises:

Legenda a small, local tour operator who have been providing Budapest city cruises since 1990. Their wealth of experience and ultra modern vessels ensure a top quality river cruise experience. Hop aboard their panoramic 'Duna Bella' boat for a daytime trip up the Danube, or cast off when the sun sets aboard the 'Danube Legend'.

All cruises include a complimentary beverage (alcoholic or soft), a 30-language digital audio guide and free WiFi. Departures are from the Legenda City Cruises Pier on Jane Haining Embankment.

Hungária Koncert River Cruises:

Best known for their gala concerts and traditional Hungarian Folk Shows, Hungária Koncert also operate a fleet of river cruise boats that are equipped to host everything from wine and craft beer tasting to candlelit dinners.

Whatever your preference each vessel is designed to give you the best views of central Budapest, day or night. Cruises booked online depart from the Hungaria Koncert Office at Danube Palace (Zrinyi u. 5, H-1051). From here a local host/hostess will guide you and your fellow visitors to the main pier on Danube Promenade.


1) Cocktail Cruise (Afternoon & Night):

If you're simply looking to relax with a good drink as the sights roll by then consider booking a departure on the afternoon or nighttime cocktail cruises. In spite of the name a varied selection drinks are available aboard the boat. Upon boarding you can choose from either two cocktails (out of a menu of 7) or three local Hungarian beers.

During cold months guests can even select hot chocolate or coffee, ideal if someone in your group does not drink.


2) Buffet Lunch Cruise:

On the lunch cruise you'll embark on a sightseeing boat trip featuring the six bridges of Budapest and views of its most iconic attractions. Each journey takes place aboard a comfortable, air conditioned boat (heated in winter) with essential amenities including passenger toilets.

Lunch is served in the form of a lavish buffet freshly prepared in the kitchens of master chef Molnárka Péter. The menu is comprised of various traditional Hungarian dishes such as: Alföld goulash with mini dumplings, juicy chicken Paprikasch and Somló style sponge cake. It's delicious local fare served against the backdrop of the Hungarian Parliament, Buda Castle and other national landmarks.

3) Buffet Dinner Cruise:

The dinner cruise is set up in essentially the same way as the lunch cruise but with a few differences. The boats cast off from Danube Promenade at 19:00. Once aboard you'll treated to a menu of traditional Hungarian cuisine as well as live string orchestra music by the Rajkó Folk Orchestra.

After your meal take advantage of the boat's open-air upper deck and enjoy stunning views of Budapest's attractions lit up and reflecting on the gently rippling Danube. For added cultural flair the dinner cruises can be paired with a Folk, Gala or Organ Concert. If desired, a hotel pick-up and drop-off option is also available.


4) Wine Tasting Cruise:

  • When? 14:00, 16:00, 19:00 & 22:00.

This cruise brings together seven flavours from various Hungarian wine regions, most notably the north-eastern Tokaji region located in the foothills of the Zemplén Mountains. A knowledgeable host/hostess will present you with seven individual 8cl servings as well as a small complimentary scone to clear the palate. Each tasting is prefaced by a short, informative introduction explaining a bit about where it was produced and its character.

A hotel transfer service is available for this cruise. Note that the 19:00 and 22:00 departures feature live music entertainment.


5) Craft Beer Cruise:

Wine isn't the only Hungarian alcohol export that's vying for greater profile. The country has a small but ambitious microbrewery scene, and on this cruise you'll sample five different varieties each served in a 150ml glass. The first four beers are standard for all guests (view cruise details to see the menu), while the fifth offers a choice between either Flamand Porter or Stari Black Currant Fruit Beer.

After completing the five tastings you'll be offered a pint of your favourite, an ideal way to finish the last half of the cruise. A hotel transfer service is available should it be requested.


6) Coffee Cruise:

If a refreshing hot drink is all you need then the mid-day coffee cruise lets you sip away as the sights of Budapest roll by. Tea and soft drinks are also available for those who'd prefer it, as are snacks, but at an additional cost onboard. This cruise is especially fitting during the winter months, when the warm mug perfectly compliments the icy banks of the Danube.


7) Club Cruise & Party Pub Crawl:

Whereas most Hungária Koncert boat trips start at Danube Palace the club cruise begins with a pub crawl exploring Budapest's famous ruin bars. Meet your guide outside Ankert Bar at 20:30, and at end of the 2.5-hour pub crawl you'll be taken to Danube Promenade to board the party boat.

The cruise portion lasts around 1.5-hours, during which you'll be treated to a free Poppy Seed Palinka and dance music on the upper deck. Additional drink purchases can be made at the onboard bar. After the ship moors up you'll be taken to a popular club on the Pest side and issued VIP entry.


8) Halloween Party Cruise:

Costumes are recommended but not essential for this spooky soirée on the Danube. Meet up at the Hungaria Koncert Office for 22:00 and follow your host to the river bank where a sinister ship awaits. Once beckoned aboard you'll receive a complimentary shot and access to the cruises' well stocked bar, drinking games and dance floor. If the party monster's still alive and kicking after two hours on the water you'll be given VIP access to the cruise operator's partner nightclub.


9) Christmas Eve Dinner Cruise:

Make Christmas Eve special without the hassle of multiple reservations on this busy day of the year. You'll be welcomed aboard with a complimentary drink and melodies from a live Hungarian folk band. Once seated you'll be presented with a seasonal menu filled with delicious traditional dishes. The Christmas Eve Dinner Cruise lasts approximately 2 hours and is available with optional hotel pick-up and drop-off.


10) New Year's Eve Party Cruise:

See in the New Year aboard Hungaria Koncert's premier 'Millennium' dinner cruise boat. Head along to Jászai Mari Square Jetty where a friendly host will be waiting to show you to your table. As welcome drinks are served and the menu's explored members of the Rajkó Folk Ensemble and a team of professional dancers will prepare for a post-meal Hungarian folklore performance.

The dinner itself is followed by a prize raffle, with winning tickets (cost €1 each) drawn just before midnight. Music is provided 15 minutes before and 45 minutes after the turn of the New Year by three members of the 'Zoltán Kodály' Rajkó Orchestra. Their energetic string performance fits wonderfully with Budapest's spectacular firework display.

Once the boat arrives back at its mooring point guests can choose to stay onboard and party till dawn with the live DJ.
