Avila & Segovia Day Tour | What To Expect:

This wonderful day trip to two of Spain's most important historical cities reveals the true diversity of Spanish culture across the ages. The first stop on the journey is Avila, a city listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its remarkably well-preserved medieval fortifications.

In Avila you will visit the Convent of Santa Teresa, the exterior of Avila Cathedral, Plaza Major, and the Basilica of San Vicente. Much of the architecture is Romanesque or Gothic in style, a testament to the town's enlightenment over the past 1000 years. It is the Walls of Ávila, however, that are the signature feature on this leg of the tour. The monument has a perimeter of over 2,500 meters, stands at an average height of 12 meters, and is dotted with 88 semi-circular towers. Your guide will narrate the stories behind each one of these national treasures.

The second stop is the city of Segovia, which elegantly fuses the best traits of Spain's Roman and medieval past. Here you'll visit the famous 16km long Roman Aqueduct, Segovia Cathedral, and the eye-catching Alcázar. The Cathedral is notable for being the last Gothic cathedral built in Spain, and is considered one of the finest ecclesiastic examples of the style in the country. The Alcázar stands out as an awesome archetype of Gothic castle design. Historically, it served as a favourite residence of the Castilian monarchs, and in later centuries was a key inspiration for Walt Disney's Cinderella Castle.
