About The Beatles Story:
The Beatles Story is the world’s leading permanent attraction dedicated to the lives and times of The Beatles. It's based over two locations – the Albert Dock and Pier Head – on the UNESCO World Heritage site on Liverpool’s iconic waterfront.
• Priority Access | • The Beatles Story Exhibition | • The White Room | • The British Invasion Exhibition | • Discovery Zone | • The Hidden Gallery | • Fab 4D Cinema
The Beatles Story Exhibition:
At the Albert Dock, guests will be transported on the incredible journey of four young lads from Liverpool, who were propelled to the dizzy heights of worldwide fame and fortune to become the greatest band of all time - from their Liverpool childhood, through the early days of the band, to world domination and on to their solo careers. Find out how the Fab Four met, go behind-the-scenes at the famous Abbey Road Studios and take an underwater trip on the Yellow Submarine! Hang out at the Casbah Coffee Club or explore the stunning replica of the Cavern Club.
The Discovery Zone:
Also based at the Albert Dock is the Beatles Story’s very own interactive educational resource, the Discovery Zone, which is an area designed around kids and lets them get hands-on with various instruments and interactive Beatles-themed activities. With a host of activities linked to the National Curriculum, kids will be shown the basics of creating their own music and can even apply their creative minds to art and writing, all the while learning about the life and legacy of the Beatles.
The British Invasion:
Based at Pier Head and co-curated by the GRAMMYS Museum in LA, the British Invasion tells the story of how The Beatles opened the gateway for 1960 beat groups to conquer America. This special exhibition contains original memorabilia from some of the greatest artists to come out of the US and UK. Key features include Keith Moon’s drumkit, BB King’s 'Lucille' Gibson and James Brown’s Jumpsuit. Keep an eye out for performance photographs of bands that have never been seen in any other public venue. Interactive experiences include a musical roots map of Great Britain, a video history booth and exclusive digital drum lessons recorded by Ringo Starr.
Fab 4D Cinema:
Also based at Pier Head is the exciting and innovative Fab4D Cinema. Written, produced and directed by award-winning children’s filmmaker 'Red 3D', with 4D effects devised by industry specialists Simworx, this animation takes the entire family on a whimsical voyage inspired by the music of the Beatles. Fun for all the family!
The Beatles Story Hidden Gallery:
See a rare collection of photographs snapped by photographer Paul Berriff during the Beatles' 1963-64 tour with Helen Shapiro. The 38 shots depicting rehearsals and relaxed off stage moments had remained forgotten in Paul's attic for almost 50 years before being handed to the Beatles Story. They can now be viewed in all their glory at the 'Hidden Gallery', and can even be purchased as prints at the onsite Fab4 Store.
Both the Albert Dock and Pier Head sites contain a Fab4 Store where you can select your purchases from a wonderful range of Beatles-themed music, books, clothing and gifts.
In addition to Beatles-themed goods, The Fab4 Store, Pier Head sells merchandise based on artists featured within the British Invasion.
Both sites also contain a Fab4 Café, where guests can unwind and refresh with a range of hot and cold food and drinks. Both cafes offer WiFi and are brought to life with Beatles-themed artistry.
The Beatles Story is accessible to those who use wheelchairs, pushchairs and hearing loops. Large print guides are available onsite and guide dogs are permitted in all areas except The Fab4D Experience.
