Big Bus Abu Dhabi has two main tour routes. For a full list of stops view the latest route map here, and read about some of the highlight locations you'll encounter below. During operational hours you can hop-on and off between each of their stops as often as you like.
Red 'City Tour' Route:
You can start the Big Bus Abu Dhabi hop-on hop-off tour at any stop along both tour routes, but the first official stop on the city tour is Abu Dhabi Mall.
Hop off here to see the Emirates Palace Hotel and, best of all, to ascend to the observation deck on Tower 2's 74th Floor. The 'Observation Deck at 300' is the highest panoramic vantage point in Abu Dhabi.
Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque:
This building stands as the 8th largest structure of its kind in the world and its various architectural and ornamental features are intended to broadly reflect the artistic and cultural diversity of the Islamic World. In terms of sheer sightseeing brilliance Sheikh Zayed is a must visit stop on the Abu Dhabi Big Bus tour. Amongst the complex's most striking features are its sprawling marble mosaic courtyard, 96 nacre inlaid prayer hall columns, 82 white domes and four 107 meter minarets.
Manarat Al Saadiyat:
Abu Dhabi's Cultural District is home to the Manarat Al Saadiyat, a vibrant visitor centre located at the heart of Abu Dhabi's Saadiyat Island. The island itself lies just 500 meters off the city's coast, and is also the site of the Abu Dhabi Louvre as well as the upcoming Zayed National Museum and Guggenheim. In addition to museums visitors can see the UAE pavilion, take a few swings at the golf club and relax in the restaurants and beach resorts.
Abu Dhabi Corniche:
This 4 mile long seafront road is embellished with pleasant lawns and gardens, elegant fountains and various amenities such as: A cycling track, running track, childrens’ play areas, picnic tables, swimming areas and volleyball courts. The Corniche is an ideal place to unwind and is extensive enough that no part of its length is too far from the remaining stops on city tour.
World Trade Centre Souk:
Abu Dhabi's WTC Souk is a traditional Arabic marketplace with a modern twist. As opposed to being a street filled with stalls the entire complex bares more of a resemblance to a typical mall, except with marvellous wooden architecture and generous opportunities for bargaining.
The public beach is located at the western end of the Corniche. If you plan to make this stop your last then bring along your shorts and bathing suits and chill out on the fabulous white sands.
This fascinating open-air museum explores the history and culture of Abu Dhabi as it existed before the discovery of oil. There's recreations of traditional Bedouin encampments, diverse artefact displays and reconstructions of old infrastructural features such as wells, mud-brick houses and souks. A great way to conclude the city tour is to hop-off at its final stop for a sightseeing cruise along the Corniche in a traditional Dhow Boat.
Green 'Yas Drive' Route:
Yas Island is an exciting area of Abu Dhabi where you can find its most exhilarating attractions and top sporting landmarks. It is home to Abu Dhabi's Grand Prix Circuit as well as Ferrari World and Yas Waterworld. Ferrari World is the world's largest indoor amusement park and the first of its kind with a theme related to the famous sports car manufacturer. The park contains 20 attractions in total, one of which is the world's fastest roller coaster!
Yas Waterworld is the UAE's first mega water park, a title of which it is thoroughly deserving with its 43 thrilling rides. The park separates its attractions into 'thrill levels', everything from low and kid friendly to extreme and heart pounding. The 'Yadi Yas' river ride is great for those who want something racy and exciting while the 'Hamlool's Humps' should probably only be attempted if you get a kick out of feeling airborne! Remember to bring plenty of sunscreen, the hot Arabian sun and exposed shoulders can be a harsh combination.
