About The Hendrix Experience Tour:
This journey into the life and times of one of rock's greatest guitarists begins at 23 Brook Street in London's Mayfair - site of the world-famous Hendrix Flat.
Jimi arrived in the city that would become his adopted home on September 24th 1966 with manager Chas Chandler. That same night he played his first UK gig at The Scotch of St. James nightclub and met Kathy Etchingham, who would be his girlfriend for the next two and a half years.
It was Kathy who discovered the Brook Street flat in June 1968, which, according to the Handel House Trust, Hendrix described as: "my first real home of my own". Meticulously restored to his original tastes, the flat now houses one of London’s only music heritage exhibitions.
On entry, you will be free to look around the flat where a guide will be on hand to recount the details of Jimi's tenure. He wrote many songs here and held numerous jam sessions from July 4th 1968. It’s also where he returned to after his Albert Hall concerts in February 1969.
At 15:30, the Swinging 60s Tour Bus will be waiting outside to show you around many of the locations that Jimi performed at, all to a backdrop of his music and live commentary by the guide. This portion of the 4-hour tour finishes up outside The Troubadour, which in addition to Jimi Hendrix, played host to Paul Simon, Elton John, Charlie Watts, Joni Mitchell and Bob Dylan. Upon arrival there’ll be short introduction to this famed music venue followed by a one hour ‘live’ Hendrix tribute act.
Those selecting a Troubadour meal option* after the tribute act can enjoy a FREE coffee, tea or soft drink on arrival.
