About The Ladronka Park Segway Tour:
Enjoy a relaxing journey around one of Prague's largest and most popular city parks on this 1.5 hour Segway tour. It begins outside Strahov Stadium on Zátopkova Street, where you'll meet your guide and have a short Segway practice session.
The Great Stadium and its adjacent pitches are highlight of the tour in their own right. You'll learn about the Czech Republic's sporting heritage, key events that took place in the area, and plans for the stadium's future.
Located in the district of Břevnov in Prague 6, Ladronka offers vast open spaces where locals can relax, stroll or play sports. It also features a 4.2 kilometre long inline cycle track and skating trails. These facilities are the result of a large scale reconstruction effort that got underway around 2002.
Before then the site was a neglected patch of land owned by the city of Prague. It's earliest origins, however, stem back to the 14th century, when Holy Roman Emperor Charles IV established vineyards on the hilly slopes of Břevnov and Motol. These were bought by the Italian Count Ferdinand de la Crone in 1688. A localised spin on his name, 'Ladron', became the basis of the park's modern title.
Your Segway guide will offer a more detailed account of Ladronka Park's history, from its 19th century decline, destruction during the World Wars, and occupation by squatters during the latter half of the 20th century. The journey will also serve as an introduction to everyday life in Prague outside the touristy city centre.
