Rome to Pompeii | Tour Details:
Your tour to Pompeii begins at the departure point on Largo di Villa Peretti. Look out for the white 'Pompeii-Napoli' City Sightseeing coach. It uses the same 'Terminal B' stop as the normal red double-decker buses. Be sure to arrive by at least 07:00, as the tour gets underway at 07:15. This gives staff enough time to inspect your pass and show you to your seat. You will be given a sticker indicating your participation in the excursion, and may be asked for a contact telephone number (for safety purposes). Special lunch requests can also be made at this time.
Expect to arrive in Pompeii at around 10:30. Upon disembarking from the coach you will be given a complimentary bottle of water and an orange juice. Other benefits include a reserved rest area within the archaeological park, reserved toilets, and a souvenir photo with a gladiator. The guided tour of Pompeii gets underway once the group has been divided up by language. At the end of the 2 hour tour you'll have free time to relax and browse City Sightseeing Italy's partner shops.
At 13:00 the group gathers together once more for lunch at a local restaurant.
After lunch it's onto Naples, where the coach will link up with one of City Sightseeing Naples' open-top buses. You'll follow the tour's 1.15 hour B-Line (download map here), a route covering Castel Nuovo, Castel dell'Ovo and the scenic viewpoint of Capo Posillipo.
From Capo Posillipo you'll be able to look out across the Gulf of Naples and savour breathtaking views of Mount Vesuvius. This portion of the day tour ends with a return to Rome aboard the coach. Expect to arrive back in the capital at around 20:30.
