About The Stockholm Archipelago Sailing Tour:
If a nautical adventure around the islands off Sweden's east coast is what you seek then this wonderful full day sailing tour by Stockholm Adventures has everything you need. You and your fellow travellers need no previous sailing experience, as you will be guided by an experienced skipper through the open bays and narrow straits.
Traverse the rocky, unspoiled coastlines of over 30,000 islands and even discover your own little slice of paradise on their lush shores. You'll sail, make landfall, explore, dine in the open air, swim, laugh, learn and walk away having had the time of your life.
Begin your adventure at the port of Vaxholm. Vaxholm itself is a charming locality north-east of Stockholm which goes by the nickname 'gateway to Roslagen', because it serves as a transit hub to most of the islands in the Stockholm Archipelago. It's most prominent feature is the mighty 17th century Vaxholm Castle.
You must make your own way to Vaxholm via a boat from the Strömkajen ferry terminal in Stockholm. The terminal is located across the water from the Royal Palace, in front of The Grand Hotel, and takes around 55 minutes to reach Vaxholm. Ferry departure times from Stockholm start at around 08:15 in the morning. See the Waxholmsbolaget journey planner for exact times.
When you disembark at 09:30 the skipper will meet you at the landing of the ferry and will guide you and your party to the sailing boat. If you don't feel like getting the Vaxholm ferry on the same day you're due to sail you can spend the night in one of the localities' quaint B&Bs.
The sailing trip will last around 8 hours before returning to Vaxholm. It's possible to be back in Stockholm for about 18:30 - 19:30.
