About The Sydney Harbour Discovery Lunch Cruise:
Sydney's finest man-made and natural wonders come together on this relaxing sightseeing/lunch cruise. Boats depart from Circular Quay (Eastern Pontoon) in the heart of the city, and begin their afternoon journey by taking in the icons of the cityscape.
See Sydney Harbour Bridge, Sydney Opera House, the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kirribilli House and Elizabeth and Double Bays as the ship's crew provide insightful live commentary. In addition to explaining the landmarks the crew will also show you various hidden gems, such as the numerous beaches and coves that sit tucked away along the coastline. At some point on the trip you will be given a chance to cool off at one of these beautiful little locations.
Heading out into the middle of Sydney Harbour National Park the cruise will eventually arrive at Shark Island*, a name which refers to its shape and not the aquatic wildlife. This lush patch of land is ideal as both a picnic spot and city vantage point, with its panoramic views of the nearby urban skyline. While the boat is moored at the island you can either stroll along the shore or just kick back and relax.
*Note that Shark Island, National Parks and Wildlife require an entry fee of $7 AUD, which is payable onboard.
Come lunchtime this cruise includes a diverse and tantalising BBQ Buffet with tea and coffee, which is served onboard and is included in the cruise price. There is also a licensed bar that serves soft and alcoholic drinks, purchasable at ones own expense.
If you happen to enjoy swimming or snorkeling then the crew can take you to Sydney Harbour's best marine sightseeing spots. These water-borne activities are not compulsory, but if you do decide to take a plunge then you're in for a treat, as the harbour area contains over 600 species of sea life, including Weedy Seadragons, Big-bellied Seahorses and Star Fishes. If you have the relevant gear you're welcome to bring it along, but if not then you can hire it onboard.
