About The Tapas Walking Tour:
Combine gourmet food and Catalan culture on a culinary walking tour of Barcelona's famous tapas bars. Led by a professional English-speaking guide it provides visitors with an overview of some of La Rambla's finest bars and cafés. Participants will also learn the art ordering tapas and the culture surrounding these tasty bar snacks.
Tours begin at the 'Tours, Tapas & Friends Gastronomic Centre' on Carrer del Pintor Fortuny. This contemporary venue was established under the slow food philosophy and caters especially to foodies visiting Barcelona. Here you'll be treated to an introductory glass of wine.
The tapas walking tour continues on down Barcelona's most famous street, La Rambla, where your guide will show you around La Boqueria, the city’s famous food market. This place offers an array of fresh produce including fruit and vegetables, seafood, cheese and every type of meat imaginable. Here you'll be offered samples of 3 quintessential Spanish products: cheese, cured meats and olives with bread.
Next you'll enter the Gothic Quarter, where you'll discover some of Barcelona's oldest delicatessens. One store in particular that specialises in the finest Iberian Ham will serve you up a few strips of this mouthwatering cured meat.
With taste buds sufficiently tantalised the tastings continue at two nearby restaurants offering delicious local fare. Here you'll enjoy a variety of tapas with a glass of wine, beer or cider, while your guide provides insights into the flavors of wine, the cuisine and Spanish culture.
