Toledo Day Tour | What To Expect:
During this full day tour you will visit a selection sites that best define the character and history of Toledo. After arriving by coach from Madrid your guide will take you and the party to the exterior of Toledo Cathedral, a 13th-century High Gothic construction which bares structural hints of the Mudéjar style. It is considered by some to be the magnum opus of Gothic cathedrals in Spain. There will subsequently be a tour of the cathedral's interior.
The journey continues with the Mosque of Cristo de la Luz, the last remaining Moorish mosque in Toledo.
In the Church of Santo Tome you will see the painting 'The Burial of the Count of Orgaz', a masterpiece by the famous Greek artist Doménikos Theotokópoulos, better known by his nickname 'El Greco'. This particular piece is actually thought to be his best known work.
The Santa Maria la Blanca Synagogue was constructed in the 12th century by Muslim architects for Jewish use. Naturally, it bares strikingly Islamic design features that are both beautiful and a peculiar symbol of inter-faith cooperation. It is considered, though disputably so, to be the oldest intact Synagogue in Europe.
The Victorio Macho Museum is where you will see and hear about the life and works of famous Spanish sculptor Victorio Macho. The building is composed of the master's former home and workshop by the edge of the River Tagus, which showcases a significant portion of his works.
Finally, the Monastery of San Juan de Los Reyes will be experienced in all it's glory. It is one of the most popular attractions in Toledo, having been commissioned by Catholic monarchs King Ferdinand II of Aragon and Queen Isabella I of Castile in the late 15th century.

Located 70km south-west of Madrid is the Spanish city of Toledo. Toledo holds a prominent spot in the pages of history as a melting pot of three cultures most often represented as hostile to one another. The period known as La Convivencia, spanned from the early 8th century until the closure of La Reconquista in 1492, and was marked most notably by the relative peaceful coexistence of Christians, Muslims and Jews. Toledo was a hotbed of interaction between these three communities, the fruits of which are evident nowadays in the dazzling array of architectural styles and quirky local customs.
