About The Big Bus Vienna Sightseeing Tour:
Big Bus Vienna offer visitors to the Austrian capital unlimited hop-on hop-off travel during operational hours (see left column). There's two routes to explore, a blue one that runs west of the city centre towards Schönbrunn Palace, and a red one that crosses the Danube River on its way to Danube Island.
The blue sightseeing route is the one to take if you're fascinated by Vienna's Habsburg heritage and its finest Baroque palaces. In addition to Schönbrunn Palace and Gardens (stop 4) you can also hop-off at the Arsenal (stop 5), a former military complex that is now the site of Vienna's Museum of Military History and Schweizergarten. Continue a short distance further up the route to find Belvedere Palace, a former summer residence built for Prince Eugene of Savoy. Today it houses the Belvedere Museum, an institution currently displaying the largest collection of medieval and modern Austrian art. Right next to palace you'll also find the Botanical Garden of the University of Vienna.
The red sightseeing route has its initial departure point just outside the Vienna State Opera House. From here it does a north-easterly circuit around the city centre, encountering attractions such as the Natural History and Sigmund Freud Museums as it goes, before crossing the Danube toward Danube Tower. Spend some time savouring the view from the tower's 252 meter high observation deck before rolling back into the city centre.
Free City Walking Tour:
Holders of any Big Bus Vienna ticket can enjoy this daily guided walking tour of the city centre's architectural highlights. It's led by a professional Big Bus guide and departs at 10:30 from the entrance of the State Opera House. Expect the walk to last around 90 minutes.
Imperial Vienna Walking Tour:
This special walking tour is also available to all general ticket holders. Departing from the State Opera at 10:30 you'll be taken around some of the finest landmarks associated with the House of Habsburg. Visit Hofburg Imperial Palace, the spectacular Spanish Riding School, Heldenplatz and Capuchin’s Crypt (burial place of its principle members). Along the way your guide will mix in a bit of Vienna's musical legacy, pointing out monuments and recounting the history of renowned composers from Mozart to Strauss.
Vienna Night Bus Tour:
Holders of the 48-hour premium ticket can take part in a guided night bus tour that departs every day from stop 1 at 18:00. It lasts approximately 1 hour and includes a radial circuit of the city centre, Prater and the Blue Danube.
