About The Wicklow Mountains Bus Tour:

Journey through the mountains of County Wicklow on an exciting full day tour. This is an unmissable experience for any visitor to Dublin who wishes to see the wider beauty of eastern Ireland. The trip comprises some of Ireland's finest landscapes, from the Glencree Valley and Lough Tay to the Sally Gap and Glendalough.

Along the way you'll be accompanied by an expert guide, whose insightful commentary will reveal the stories behind key landmarks such as the German War Cemetery and Glendalough's 10th century monastery. Lunch takes place at Fitzgerald's Pub in the little village of Avoca.

Buses depart the Dublin Visitor Centre on 16 Lower O'Connell Street every day at 09:15.

First on the list of stops is the Glencree Valley, a gently-rolling green and golden landscape of coarse grass and pristine forest down which runs the River Dargle. It's the site of the German War Cemetery, where the graves of 88 German military personnel and 46 civilians from World Wars 1 and 2 lie in neat semi-circular rows. Notable amongst the dead is Dr. Hermann Görtz, an Abwehr spy who committed suicide in 1947.

After leaving Glencree the group will make a series of photo stops at Lough Tay (also known as the Guinness Lakes), the stone bridge from P.S. I Love You, and the winding vistas of the Sally Gap.

Eventually the tour will reach its highlight location - the glacial valley of Glendalough. At the heart of the valley is a 10th century monastic settlement featuring an ancient round tower and graveyard. While in Glendalough you'll be given a chance explore the lower and upper lakes on foot. These walks vary in difficulty, from leisurely to challenging, but all are wonderfully scenic nonetheless.

Note that for lunch the tour will head to Fitzgerald's Pub in Avoca. During your visit you'll enjoy a hearty Irish lunch* and, if you'd like, a toast of Irish Whiskey with your fellow sightseers.

*An exclusive €10pp meal deal for Wicklow Mountains Tour passengers. It's NOT included in price of tour.
